Born with no discs in my low back , a mid-back scoliosis, and a reverse curve on my neck, I intimately understand back pain. My father and sister both had similar defects, and both had surgery to fuse their vertebrae, but neither surgery was successful in decreasing their pain.
I healed my body using the Backhealer self care-method. If you can lay on the floor you can use the Backhealer method too.
At seven years old I started experiencing severe neck pain, migraines, and even black outs. At the age of nine my first x-rays showed the chiropractor that I had the spine of a 90 year old man. All through my teens I had severe pain, especially when playing competitive sports (despite a doctor’s warning that I could end up paralyzed if I continued to play).
By my early twenties I was unable to walk for long periods of time, and
a few years later the headaches became debilitating. I used a pressure-based treatment similar to acupressure (sticking a tool into the painful areas) to relieve my neck pain. I succeeded, and never got headaches, migraines, or blackouts after that.
My low back pain remained but so did the experience of the self directed pressure into my neck a few years earlier. I immersed myself in research and trial of many therapies including chiropractic, all forms of massage, Chinese medicine, Ayurvedic medicine, acupressure, acupuncture, weight training , yoga, nutrition, breath work, and energy work. I started Bikram’s yoga in my mid-thirties, and while the pain remained, I started to feel my muscles become more supple and my joints more flexible. I began my health and fitness career at a very young age becoming a Certified Fitness Trainer and Specialist in Performance Nutrition.
I remember the day I started to experiment with breathing techniques. I felt immediate relaxation of some of the pain and tightness. For the next few years I experimented with breathing, pressure, and movement techniques. The Backhealer has emerged from my struggle for healing. There have been many influential people and books throughout the way and the process has provided me with a deep understanding of pain and healing. I implore you to experiment with the Backhealer methods and see if they can be helpful to your healing process.
